Kim Kamin, Chief Wealth Strategist at Gresham Partners, LLC, co-presented on “Planning for and Dealing with Diminishing Capacity?” for the Chicago Estate Planning Council. This panel discussed planning, administration, and ethical considerations for dealing with dementia and other incapacitating conditions. They addressed a full range of what estate planning advisors need to know to plan for and respond to signs of diminishing capacity personally and for clients and professional colleagues, including: understanding and diagnosing dementia, establishing legal incapacity, guardianship and alternatives to guardianship, and the role of and local resources for care management.
