As a Partner and Advisor, Matt has significant experience in multigenerational investment and wealth planning, as well as deep knowledge of income tax, gift planning, philanthropy, and estate planning. He oversees next-generation education programs, shepherds families through conflict and dispute resolution, provides business counseling and succession planning, and helps structure significant philanthropic legacy gifts. For many families’ businesses, Matt’s planning advice and counsel has helped limit financial risk related to the business, identified substantial income and estate tax savings, and increased the assets available to future generations.
Prior to joining Gresham shortly after its founding in 1997, Matt worked as a tax consultant at KPMG LLP, where he advised Fortune 500 CEOs and their families.
Matt enjoys spending time with family and friends and is often at his family’s Wisconsin lake house boating, fishing, and pheasant hunting. He collects wine and loves to cook and travel to new places. To his wife’s chagrin, he can also be a happy couch potato and is willing to watch any sporting event as a lifelong Chicago sports fan.
