Inspired by a financial visionary.

About

Our name honors the foresight, financial acumen and lasting impact Sir Thomas Gresham (1519 – 1579) had on the world.

Sir Thomas was a financier, advisor to three British monarchs and founder of the Royal Exchange. His unconventional counsel to Elizabeth I is credited with restoring the value of the pound sterling after it had been debased during the reign of her predecessors. In his will, Sir Thomas founded Gresham College, which would go on to produce a cohort of scientists who founded the Royal Society on the grounds of the College a century later. Gresham has no affiliation with Sir Thomas Gresham’s family.
