Tax and Estate Planning for Same-Sex Couples after the Demise of DOMA
Kim Kamin, now Chief Wealth Strategist at Gresham Partners, LLC, and Susan von Herrmann (current member of Schiff Hardin LLP’s Private Clients, Trusts, and Estates Group) presented “Tax and Estate Planning for Same-Sex Couples after the Demise of DOMA” at Schiff Hardin’s Chicago office. Ms. Kamin and Ms. von Herrmann examined tax and estate planning for same-sex couples after the Supreme Court’s decisions in the Windsor and Perry cases, as well as the recent passage of the marriage equality bill in Illinois. The event began with a wine and cheese reception and concluded with a closing reception. Ms. Kamin and Ms. von Herrmann have extensive experience advising individuals, families and closely held businesses in wealth preservation, asset protection and succession planning issues.
